Speaking to Starts at 60, Les has opened up on the moment he realised he had hit “rock bottom” before confessing to a string of gay affairs behind his wife’s back, as well as a horrific date rape he endured when he was just 19-years-old.
The 62-year-old singer battled alcohol and drug addiction for several years too, leading to a shock confession on a TV show that briefly ended his marriage to Japanese wife, Peko. But his musical history isn’t the only demon Les McKeown has had to overcome. He became a worldwide star as frontman of the Bay City Rollers in the 1970s, before a bitter falling out led to the Scottish group breaking up and going their separate ways.
